GRILLA – Arabian Stallion

GRILLA is a proven athlete and sire and grandsire of successful athletes. His superb heritage combines an imported French sire with a half Polish dam whose dam side includes top Egyptian race lines and a line to the endurance legend BEZATAL. His dam line traces to horses bred by the Lucas family of Nevada who were among the most successful early US racing Arabians.

GRILLA’s race record includes 11 wins with 6 of those in stakes races and a sprint at Delaware Park in 1:17 1/5. He is well known for upsetting then undefeated SAND WITCHH in the President of the UAE Cup S. (Grade 1) at Keeneland. He raced 5 seasons, earned nearly $250,000 and received two Darley Awards. He still holds the track record for 1 mile at the Sam Houston Race Park which he set in 2011.

Among GRILLA’s best known get are U.S. Reserve National Champion Western Dressage MISS RUBY+/ (who has 10 National titles in dressage), 5 time stakes winner DANCE WITH ME BW, and 2024 U.S. National Champion 100 Mile Endurance Horse HIGHH STICKING (who has completed all of his endurance rides).

GRILLA’s sire, the French import *KONG, is a US race winner and sire of stakes winners and successful endurance horses. He is the grandsire of the remarkable TM FRED TEXAS, a multiple Grade One stakes winner in the U.S.A. and the Middle East and sire of stakes winners. He is also a member of the AJC Hall Of Fame. *KONG’s sire DJOURAS TU is a stakes winner and his dam ARCA DE CASSOU is stakes placed and the dam of 2 stakes winners. *KONG is linebred to DENOUSTE, whose son KANN founded a leading race sire line in Russia.

GRILLA’s dam is the outstanding race mare and race producer DIXIE DARLENE, an 8 time stakes winner. She is the dam of three stakes winners including twice stakes winner DIXIE DANCE and 12 time stakes winner MS DIXIE. DIXIE DARLENE’s sire *WIKING is a U.S. National Champion Racehorse, a winner of 6 stakes. 207 of his 267 starters are race winners including the phenomenal MONARCH AH, winner of 12 stakes and sire of stakes winners and National Champions in dressage and reining. *WIKING is a paternal brother to 2 Polish National Champions in halter and is a maternal brother to a National winner producer and a stakes winner sire.

DIXIE DARLENE’s dam BW ALI CATT is a race winner and stakes placed. She produced a remarkable 7 race winners including multiple stakes winners AYERS and MR FULL SERVICE. Her sire, ZT ALI BABA+/, is the top ranked straight Egyptian racehorse with multiple stakes wins and is a sire and grandsire of stakes winners. He is a member of the Racing Hall of Fame. BW ALI CATT is out of EL TALQUAHJAMASZNA, dam of 3 race winners. She is a paternal sister to Tevis Cup winner FILLE DE CAILANA and to great endurance horse and endurance sire COUGAR ROCK. Her sire BEZATAL won the Tevis Cup twice and is considered a key source of endurance talent. Her dam DAHSHUR is of Lucas breeding, valued for the success of its racing success.
